Super-creamy oats with crushed almonds
There are so many ways to make oats; some like it creamy, some like it dry. I, of course, want the oats to have a creamy texture, and I love adding crunchy things, so I get the best of both worlds with every bite
I normally make it either on the stove or in the microwave. I have done both and with the below quantities, you will end up with a very creamy oats recipe.
Serving size : 2
Prep and cook time : In the microwave about 3 min
on the stove 5-10 approximately
INGREDIENTS
1 cup of rolled oats ( please do not use microwavable packets as they have added starch etc)
1 cup or 250ml of water
1/2 cup or 125 ml milk of choice
Pinch of salt
Topping of choice - I used fresh strawberries, crushed almonds and a bit of honey or coconut sugar
METHOD
In a microwavable bowl, add one cup of water and into that add the oats and pinch of salt. Mix using a fork ( For some reason when I use a fork instead of a spoon, it makes the oats fluffy. Could be because the fork adds in more air to the oat mixture while mixing)
Cook in the microwave for 1 min, take it out, mix using a fork, put it back and cook for 30 seconds.
Take it out and add 1/4 th of milk and microwave for 30 seconds, take it out mix using a fork and cook for a further 30 seconds-40 seconds.
Using the fork mix the oats well! it should be so creamy and thick.
Now you can add your toppings and enjoy a creamy bowl of oats!
